Privacy Notice
Last updated: 28 August 2026
Anthony Kelly, operator of Yaqeen: Deen Companion, is the data controller for the personal data described here. This notice explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have.
1. What we collect
- Account data — your email address and sign-in credentials, when you create an account.
- App progress — your journey, bookmarks, worship checklists, lesson results and settings. By default this lives only on your device; if you sign in, a copy is synced so it follows you between devices.
- Usage counters — how many guidance sessions you have used in a day, to enforce the free-tier limit.
- Guidance conversations — what you type or say to the guidance feature is processed to produce a reply. Voice input is transcribed and not retained as audio.
2. Why we use it
- to create and secure your account (performance of our contract with you);
- to provide the service — sync, entitlements, daily limits (contract);
- to prevent fraud and abuse (legitimate interests);
- to provide customer support (legitimate interests);
- to meet legal obligations where they apply.
3. Who we share it with
- Service providers — cloud hosting and database infrastructure that stores your account and synced data.
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record, for the sale of subscriptions, payment processing, tax compliance and invoicing. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy terms; we never see your full card number.
- AI providers — your guidance prompts are processed by an AI model provider solely to generate a reply.
- Professional advisers and authorities — where required by law.
4. Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account) your cloud-stored data is deleted; anything remaining is anonymised. On-device data is erased from your device when you use “Erase all my data” in Settings or remove the app.
5. Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your supervisory authority. You can export or erase your data yourself from Settings, and we respond to any other request within one month — contact us through the Settings screen in the app.
6. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures: encrypted connections, row-level access controls so each account can only read its own rows, and no sale of personal data to anyone, ever.
7. Cookies and storage
The app uses essential browser storage only — to keep you signed in and to remember your settings and progress. We do not use analytics or marketing cookies.
